Goalkeeper Ryan Price has admitted he is “puzzled” by the Chasetown FC’s recent loss of form.
The 1-1 draw against Carlton Town on Tuesday (November 10) came on the back of a 1-0 defeat at Glapwell.
And with the Scholars squad knowing they need to put a run of results together if they are to get themselves in the midst of the title race, Price admits he has been left scratching his head.
The Chasetown keeper said:
“I’m puzzled by our recent results. We need to stop gifting teams sloppy goals and need a bit of luck to go our way which we certainly aren’t having at the moment.
“Nothing is going for us and everything is going for the teams we are up against.”
But despite their last two results – which leave the Scholars eighth in the table and seven points behind leaders FC Sheffield with a game in hand – Price has insisted their is no need to panic.
He explained:
“The one thing we cant do is push the panic button. In my opinion we haven’t played well all season, yet look at the league table and we are right in it with a few results.
“But we know we can’t keep saying this every week – it has to be up to me and the lads to do something now. It’s so frustrating as I know the quility that we have and all of us need to step up to the plate now.”
Chasetown will look to get their title challenge back on track when they travel to second-placed Kidsgrove Athletic on Saturday (November 14).
